Playa de El Bollullo – Dramatic Volcanic Beach Photoshoot Location in North Tenerife


Hidden beneath the dramatic cliffs of North Tenerife, Playa de El Bollullo is one of the island’s most breathtaking volcanic beaches. Wide, powerful, and beautifully raw, it offers a cinematic landscape that feels completely different from the southern coast. Dark volcanic sand, towering cliffs, and a striking rock formation rising from the middle of the beach create a setting that feels both wild and elegant.


Reaching the beach requires a short walk of about 15 minutes downhill and around 20 minutes back up, which adds a small sense of adventure to the experience. The path leads through banana plantations and coastal greenery before opening to a spectacular view of the Atlantic. While Playa de El Bollullo is slightly more known than some hidden northern beaches, it still feels spacious and natural thanks to its large shoreline and many quiet corners.


The dark volcanic sand creates a beautiful contrast with the ocean and cliffs, offering countless possibilities for photography. It’s an exceptional location for:

There are many small pockets along the beach where the cliffs, rock formations, and waves create intimate compositions for photos. The central rock formation in particular becomes a powerful visual anchor, especially during golden hour.

Playa de El Bollullo is also one of those places where time seems to slow down. It’s the kind of beach where you can sit for hours simply watching the ocean. The atmosphere is calming and inspiring, a true place of energy and creativity, which is why it remains one of our favorite locations for photography on Tenerife.


Because we are based in the south of the island, reaching this location requires a longer drive. For sessions here we only add a small additional travel fee to cover fuel, as we genuinely love photographing in this extraordinary setting.
