Playa Castro - Where the Palms Meet the Ocean in Tenerife


Hidden on the lush north coast of Tenerife, Playa Castro feels almost like a secret garden by the ocean. The path to the beach leads through tropical greenery, with flowers, palm trees, and views opening slowly as you descend toward the shore. It’s one of the rare places on the island where such rich vegetation meets the Atlantic so closely, creating a setting that feels wild, cinematic, and completely unique.

The walk from the parking area takes about 10 minutes downhill and around 15 minutes back up. Because of this short but scenic hike, we usually recommend Playa Castro for couples, solo travellers, or small groups who enjoy a little adventure and don’t mind a relaxed walk surrounded by palms and flowers.


At the bottom, dramatic cliffs and palms frame a beautiful volcanic-sand beach, often peaceful and uncrowded. Depending on the tide, the sandy area can sometimes disappear, so we always check the ocean conditions in advance. When the tide is lower, the beach reveals its full beauty, including access to a small waterfall and more open space along the shore.

This location is perfect for romantic love story sessions, editorial-style portraits, and elegant fashion-inspired shoots. The dark sand and wild greenery create a striking contrast that pairs beautifully with refined outfits, flowing dresses, or stylish swimwear for a relaxed “day at the beach” aesthetic.


Playa Castro is also an exceptional setting for stunning babymoon maternity photos. The open landscape and dramatic volcanic sand allow for artistic, elegant portraits that celebrate the beauty of pregnancy in a natural and tasteful way.
